Why Java VM starts when viewing Plone 3.x.x in Firefox 3.5

Turns out there is a small bug in FireFox (fixed with the 3.6 release that triggers an XSS flaw in Plone which then starts Java VM if you have it installed.

Inspired by experience, history and this article...

So I have been a web developer/producer/sysadmin since Mosaic became Netscape. I worked for AT&T, taught FrontPage and DreamWeaver, learned about content management systems, search engines Gopher, WAIS, VLib (kind of the first directory it was setup by Tim Berners Lee), Excite, Lycos and Alta Vista through Google, watched W3C use XHTML as the standard for presentation layer code and finally realized I was no longer a sysadmin, programmer, graphic designer or web designer, I had become a business owner with younger, more talented people working with me.

ProductCart v4 is PA-DSS Validated

ProductCart v4 received official PA-DSS validation from the PCI Security Standards Council in October of 2009. PA-DSS stands for Payment Application Data Security Standards. “The goal of PA-DSS is to help software vendors and others develop secure payment applications that do not store prohibited data, such as full magnetic stripe, CVV2 or PIN data, and ensure their payment applications support compliance with the PCI DSS.”

Jason HareWeb technology is now in its teens, and since its emergence Jason Hare has been one if its most highly skilled craftsmen. He has  successfully created and commercialized a suite of Web-based proprietary content management products over the past 13 years.

Jason's wealth of experience is underscored by a broad and diverse array of clients. These have included Duke University, DukeHealth, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Chicago Medical Society, Merkle Direct Marketing, Wisconsin Technical College Foundation, Dade County Federal Credit Union, URS Corporation,  RateWatch, Precision Response Corporation, and many more associations and organizations.

Jason has served as Information Architect and Lead Web Administrator for Durham (NC) Public Schools since 2005. His work was cited by the North Carolina School Public Relations Association a Blue Ribbon Award for School District Web site for three consecutive years, and it also has been recognized by the National School Public Relations Association.

From 2000 to 2002, Jason was Vice President of Web Operations for RateWatch, Inc., a financial reporting and services company spanning a network of more than 5,000 banks and credit unions. At RateWatch he developed and implemented AmazingRates.com, an online service that compared CD interest rates of more than 20,000 financial institutions. Jason oversaw development of the user interface, Web site, gathering tools and a set of best usability practices for the company.

Jason was Consulting & Support Services Director for CyFi.com, a web development and hosting company servicing financial institutions, from 1998 to 2000. At CyFi he was responsible for search engine and security analysis, as well as usability and regulatory compliance. From 1997 to 1998, he was a Web developer contracting for AT&T WorldNet and a member of the team responsible for building and implementing the interface to the AT&T Knowledge Management System (KMS).

Jason graduated Summa Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Washington State University. He interned as a Northwest Colleges and Universities for Science (NORCUS) Department of Defense scholar for the Battelle Northwest Laboratories at Hanford in 1992. In 1993 and 1994 he interned with the University of Lecce at the Centro Studi di Prestorici in Capo Di Ponte, Italy for the United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage organization.  He presented a paper to UNESCO on the semantics of rupestrian art in the Columbia Plateau. In 1995 he pursued graduate studies at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, Canada. 

Jason's intrinsic understanding of human interaction with symbols richly enhances his work as a usability analyst and as a UX specialist. He is a member of The Information Architecture Institute and a contributing member of the Plone Community.
